Super Bowl Street Closures Jan.5 – Feb 4, 2013
Hopefully, by now you haven't pulled out all your hair traveling to downtown New Orleans or the French Quarters trying to bear the traffic and long delays from street closures. But that's the price we have to pay for mostly even streets and even more opportunities to celebrate and party with friends and family during not only Mardi Gras, but Super Bowl 2013 in the Big Easy.
If you saved a strand or two of hair, you may want to secure it now, because yes, there will be street closures continuing up until Sunday, February 3 from the Superdome to the Convention Center. No fret, the city has provided maps to help you navigate your way out of trouble and keep you partially sane! (Feel free to click on each map to enlarge the image)
Suggested Routes:
From the East
If you're traveling from the east heading toward downtown, it is recommend to take the Canal Street Exit.
From the West
If you're traveling from the west heading toward downtown, the Superdome Exit will be closed. It is recommend to continue on I-10E/US90 Pontchartrain Expressway and take the Loyola exit. The Claiborne Avenue exit near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will also be open.

Commuters and visitors will be most affected by the closure of the river-bound lanes of Poydras Street from LaSalle to South Claiborne. Poydras exit 234B from I-10 east also will be closed during this time.
The best options for residents who work in the area near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be to take the Loyola exit from the Pontchartrain Expressway and use Loyola Avenue to get to other downtown streets, including the lake-bound lanes of Poydras, which will remain open during this time. Garages at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will remain accessible from a portion of West Stadium Drive. Those planning to attend the NFL Experience, the 5-day interactive theme park that starts January 30 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will not experience road closings in the area, but may find parking difficult to find. Consider using public transportation such as an RTA bus or streetcar or a licensed taxi cab.
